Past Imperfect, Present Progressive (ISBN-10:

by Kerry Michael
Wood is a perfect and wonderful epic memoir that
chronicles
the author’s life spanning fifty decades. Past Imperfect, Present
Progressive is a true literary portrait
of the experiences and life changes of the author from a
4 year old in a military boarding school to his adolescent
years. From a college student at Yale to a young soldier to a rewarding
career as a high school teacher.
Past Imperfect, Present Progressive is a look back that gives
the reader the gifts of history and the survival of the human spirit.
In a recent interview the author says, “After retiring, I
started attending a memoir writing class. I finally decided that I wanted to
have a publication (other than textbooks) with my name on the spine. I also
was thinking of my sons and possible grandchildren and felt an urgency to
get some oral history recorded before it disappeared into the abyss of
forgetfulness. I’d like them to say. “Here’s a guy with a way with words
who’s been through some ugly stuff—military boarding school at age 4,
stroke, prostate cancer,--but he doesn’t feel sorry for himself. Instead he
plays it for laughs."
Past Imperfect, Present Progressive is a voice for the
‘Silent Generation’ and a marvelous and humble interpretation of one
man’s life. The author's satisfaction as a career teacher is a message of
what a difference one teacher can make in many lives.
Past Imperfect, Present Progressive is a grand and impressive
journey. You will not be disappointed.
