Reviewers are raving over “Promised Land” , “The latest volume in the Island Mystery series by Bob Adamov, Promised Land is a haunting novel about secrets and repercussions rippling from the Vatican to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. A gutsy Creole detective and her partner are thrust amid a web of deceit and murder, sparked by missing documents whose hidden secret just might undermine the legitimacy of the United States. Promised Land is a rush of nail-biting excitement, sure to keep the reader's attention glued to the last page. Also highly recommended are Adamov's previous Island Mystery novels, "Rainbow's End", "Pierce the Veil", and "When Rainbows Walk".
The author said Mystery hangs over the city like a veil. It's a gumbo of fragrant smells, beautiful architecture and colorful people salted throughout by its distinctive jazz music and parades. It's also a city full of police corruption which cries to be made public… Filled with Vatican intrigue, serial murders, police corruption and the devastating effects of Hurricane Katrina, it surges to a surprising climax…. I learned quite a bit about the French Quarter and the heroes from Hurricane Katrina. The Metropolitan Crime Commission provided me with quite a bit of insight regarding police corruption in New Orleans. New Orleans is one of my favorite places to visit.”
“Promised Land” promises an excellent and unique plot with characters that you care about and are interested in – You will find yourself eager to go back and read Adamov’s previous books as we all have done from Steinbeck to Clancy to Grisham. “Promise Land’ is an author at the top of his game. Great Book!!!
