THE RAIN by Tom Brandner will quench your literary thirst!!!

Stephen King has new competition in the horror genre and it is author Tom Brandner.

THE RAIN by Tom Brandner (ISBN-10: 1583850775 Publisher: Cold Tree Press) is a fast, hair-raising, chilling and suspenseful story that will seize you from beginning to end. Nine year old foster child, Trent loved the rain. What he didn't know was the darkness that he would find at his new foster home.

Set in the small town of New Bern North Carolina children are disappearing. The community is baffled. Making things worse, a lack of rain is causing the most severe droughts in years. Farmers are suffering the devastating effects of the drought. This is a tale of good vs. evil and is a new look into what is spellbinding and frightening.

The author said in a recent interview, "What inspired me to write the novel was that I wanted to write something different, something new . . . no haunted houses or psycho killers on the loose. I also wanted the story to be believable, and I feel the novel comes across that way. Rain is usually good, but it is a lack of rain that is the problem in the novel. The promise of rain can be enticing, going back to the rain dances of ancient civilizations, if one can control the rain, one can control the world. In the novel, rain is a symbol of what is needed, what is desired, and what will cause normally sane men to go to drastic measures to have it. In the boy's world, however, rain can be seen as a friend."

THE RAIN has everything you want in a good story. Believable characters and a tight plot that grabs you by your throat the first chapter and doesn't let go until the end. If you like books by Stephen King and Dean Koontz - I introduce you to a new horror/supernatural author deserving to be in their league -- Tom Brandner!

Discussing plot and character, the author says, "The plot as I stated earlier, is the easier of the two for me, although they are both challenging. The characters demand more attention, more detail, and more thought. You have to literally become the character when you write about him or her and they must be believable. You have to put yourself in their state of mind, and sometimes that can be quite hard if you're not in the mood. Again, the plot seems to flow along at its own pace, and for me requires less attention."

For a debut novel, THE RAIN, is a very impressive. There is lots of evidence from this book that this author will be a great storyteller/novelist for a long time. Thirsty for something solid and captivatingly scary? Get a copy of THE RAIN today!
