Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 26, 2007 - Barnes & Noble Booksellers
presents Atlanta's own Darlene Ford Wofford, (aka The Spirited Southerner),
author of "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember." The spirited southern author
will be greeting guests and signing her novel Saturday afternoon, October 27th
from 2-5:00. Barnes & Noble is located at 2952 Cobb Parkway, Austell, GA 30339
(next to Cumberland Mall) and their phone number is 770-953-0966.
Based on true events in the her life, "An Assignment to Remember"
is the first of three novels in the author's "Edgewise" series, with "Seven
Years 'Til Sunrise," scheduled for release next year, followed by the third in
2009-10. The term "Edgewise" is used to describe the book's protagonist as a
young Atlanta woman whose mind has shut down to block out back-to-back traumatic
events, however other memories of her life are blocked, as well. Told through
the eyes of the author's alter ego, "An Assignment to Remember" is not as much
about the events as it is the inspiring story about triumph over tragedy, her
recovery as a healing progression, and the prevailing strength of unconditional
love.
The Midwest Book Review describes the novel as, "An inspired
tribute to the strength of the human spirit, and of working through a process of
recovery to overcome the wounds that life can inflict upon us without warning."
To quote Page One Lit literary newsletter, "Wofford is a wonderful writer whose
personality and charisma is vivid in every word and sentence in her new book,
'Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember.' This is the most honest, heart-inspiring
book of the year." Denna Shelton of Twenty Gems sums it up nicely in her review,
"Edgewise took me on an emotional journey of laughter, sorrow and hope." The
second edition is now available online and at local bookstores.
Both Darlene and Carl, her husband of 40+ years are Atlanta
natives
currently residing in Acworth, Georgia. They have two sons, Kenneth and Cory. If
the name Darlene Wofford sounds familiar it may be because she stays mighty busy
in and around Atlanta and the northern suburbs. She was in the mortgage finance
industry for 20 years, and as a certified image consultant she owns Imagize
Consulting Services (www.ImagizeConsulting.com ) and is the London Image
Institute's Graduate Division Director. She is an officer for the Marietta
Chapter of Toastmasters International, and on the board of directors for the
Atlanta Chapter of the AICI (Association of Image Consultants International).
She co-hosted an hour-long Atlanta radio talk-show called "Your Inner Voice"
every Saturday morning last year, and she has also been interviewed recently
regarding her novel on several Atlanta radio stations. The author's interview on
"Book Talk" for Radio Sandy Springs is archived and may be heard via audio
streaming the net at
