Atlanta Author, Darlene Ford Wofford Featured at Georgia Tech's Barnes & Noble

Georgia Tech's Barnes & Noble features Atlanta native, Darlene Ford Wofford, author of "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember," 4-5:00 Saturday afternoon, September 8th

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 5, 2007 - Georgia Tech's Barnes & Noble presents Atlanta's own Darlene Ford Wofford, author of "Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember" Saturday afternoon, September 8th. Barnes & Noble is located at 48 Spring Street in Technology Square at the corner of Spring and 5th Street, and their phone number is 404-894-2515. The author will be greeting guests inside the entrance near Starbuck's and signing her novel from 4-5:00 p.m. When asked if she is a Georgia Tech fan, she replied, "As an Atlanta native I've always been a huge fan of those Ramblin' Wrecks from Georgia Tech, and I love it when the Yellow Jackets leave their sting on the opposing teams. I hope they perform as well against Samford on the 8th as they did against Notre Dame this past Saturday--33 to 3--WAY TO GO JACKETS! Of course, you can't go anywhere near Tech without stopping by the world famous Varsity for one of their infamous chili dogs, along with onion rings and a frosted orange. No doubt that's where you'll find us when we leave Barnes & Noble."

Both Darlene and Carl, her husband of 40+ years are Atlanta natives and currently reside in Acworth, Georgia. They have two sons, Kenneth and Cory. If the name Darlene Wofford sounds familiar it may be because she stays mighty busy in and around Atlanta and the northern suburbs. She was in the mortgage finance industry for 20 years, and as a certified image consultant she owns Imagize, Image Consulting Services and is the London Image Institute's Graduate Division Director. She is an officer for both the Marietta Chapter of Toastmasters International, and the Atlanta Chapter of the AICI (Association of Image Consultants International). Every Saturday morning in 2006 from 10-11:00 a.m., she co-hosted an hour-long Atlanta radio talk-show called "Your Inner Voice." She has also been interviewed recently regarding her novel on several Atlanta radio stations. The author's interview on "Book Talk" for Radio Sandy Springs is archived and may be heard via audio streaming the net at http://www.radiosandysprings.com/podcasts/BookTalkAug15.mp3 .

Based on true events in the her life, "An Assignment to Remember" is the first of three novels in the author's "Edgewise" series, with "Seven Years 'Til Sunrise," scheduled for release next year, followed by the third in 2009-10. The term "Edgewise" is used to describe the book's protagonist as a young Atlanta woman whose mind has shut down to block out back-to-back traumatic events, however other memories of her life are blocked, as well. Told through the eyes of the author's alter ego, "An Assignment to Remember" is not as much about the events as it is the inspiring story about triumph over tragedy, her healing progression, and the prevailing strength of unconditional love.

To quote Page One Lit literary newsletter, "Wofford is a wonderful writer whose personality and charisma is vivid in every word and sentence in her new book, 'Edgewise: An Assignment to Remember.' This is the most honest, heart-inspiring book of the year." The Midwest Book Review describes the novel as, "An inspired tribute to the strength of the human spirit, and of working through a process of recovery to overcome the wounds that life can inflict upon us without warning." Denna Shelton of Twenty Gems sums it up nicely in her review, "Edgewise took me on an emotional journey of laughter, sorrow and hope."
