Xen: Ancient English Edition, Complete &
Unexpurgated A Novel from the future, "translated" by D. J. Solomon
is universally interesting and crafted with genius symbolism.
There is a saying that goes something like,
"You're MIND is like
a PARACHUTE, IT ONLY WORKS WHEN IT IS OPEN" and an open mind
is what you need to have for this book. Xen: Ancient English
Edition, A Novel from the future, "translated" by D. J. Solomon
is universally interesting and crafted with genius symbolism.
This is a book that can be read over and over again and is
perfect for book club conversation. Xen is social and political.
It is soulful and imaginative. It is challenging and
entertaining. It is folklore and mystery. It is comedy and dark.
It is sarcastic with purpose. It is liberation and informative.
It is a journey with a message.
"The book presents a "translation" from the future "Last
Testament of Mankind," mythically setting forth the explanation
of how the utopia of Earth came to be." The book begins with
Wind, Earth, Water and Fire. There is an extremely and visual
reading of how the world is sculpted by the elements with a
wager between Wind and Water. Wind bets Water that mankind will
annihilate itself. Water believes that humanity will continue
without destroying itself. The conversations between the
elements are solid, justified and right on the mark. In the
world of Xen, if you pay attention, you will feel 'particularly
effervescent.'
Xen is a lighthearted look at the future or is it a lighthearted
look at the past? This is an interesting point the book makes
and offers the reader - The reader's point of view gets to play
the game and have fun reading a gifted tale. There is lots of
dry humor, problems with mankind and our society and the fear we
all have of people who are different from us. Xen shows how
mankind is flawed and must be replaced by a "gentle" matriarchy.
Xen is an adult book and has many 4 letter words - This is an
'adult-fairy-tale' written to get a reaction from the reader.
Each of the chapters are parables that all fit together as a
whole to motivate thought and discussion. Xen is adorable
and a different kind of book. I highly recommend Xen- A Novel
from the future, "translated" by D. J. Solomon and you will
as well once you have read it.
